I have a few crafting goals this year. One of them is to get more Christmas cards made early so that I have plenty ready for my fundraiser sale in November. Another is to use up my ribbon and dp - I'm getting more interested in making my own backgrounds but I have this large stash of dp so I'm setting myself a goal to make at least one card a week that has some dp on it. Likewise with ribbon of which I have far too much!
For this card I used a simple background of dp to set my holly and bells image against. I framed it with Nesties and added a sentiment and ribbon tag.
It's also for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown theme challenge "Bells":

I'm with you Susan! I have more designer paper than Michael's craft store. I don't want to run out so I don't use it. You have used some lovely holly paper with a great image!

Like your really simple card.
I too had a large stash of DP - like you I like to do my own backgrounds and my tastes have changed. A friend, whose profession is to help people declutter made a suggestion --- find a school, after school program or such for children that does art work - most will accept donations - you get rid of your excess paper with out just throwing it out. I did that and "oh, what a relief it is"
Also, if the program qualifies with the IRS get a receipt and it can be a tax deduction.

I need to use up some (a lot) of DP and ribbon! Wow, does that stuff grow! Love the holly paper and the pretty bells in the frame! Great way to use the ribbon!

That's a lofty resolution you have. How fun to be able to create your own dp. Now that's creativity. Love all the red in your card. It shouts Christmas. Now, go add this to your November fundraising pile.
